Description

This intensive 4-day trekking journey departs from Lushoto and takes you into the untouched beauty of Mazumbai Forest. Beautiful mountain hikes, real village life, rainforest exploration, and restful overnight stays in local accommodations are all included in this trip. Before heading back to Lushoto, trek from Soni to Bumbuli, continue along the forest edge to Mazumbai, and spend some time enjoying one of the Usambara Mountains' most perfect mountain forests.

What You’ll Experience

Village Life & Cultural Encounters:
Walk through rural communities between Soni and Bumbuli, experiencing traditional mountain life and warm local hospitality during your homestay.

Mazumbai Forest Exploration:
Discover Mazumbai Forest's rich biodiversity, which includes native tree species, birds, butterflies, and a unique ecology. Learn about environmental efforts while taking guided walks through protected forest areas.

Scenic Mountain Landscapes:
Hike through farmland, forests, and green hills while taking in beautiful expansive views of the Usambara mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1: Lushoto – Soni – Bumbuli

 Take a private vehicle to Soni from Lushoto. After you arrive, start your journey toward Bumbuli, passing through beautiful mountain surroundings, small towns, and farms. Along the trip, engage with local communities and experience real rural living. After arriving in Bumbuli in the afternoon, spend the night at a friendly local homestay where you will be treated with traditional hospitality and served meals prepared in the home.

Day 2: Bumbuli – Mazumbai

Hiking from Bumbuli toward Mazumbai after breakfast. The route offers incredible views and an inside look at the rich rainforest ecology as it runs along the boundary of Mazumbai Forest. As you get closer to Mazumbai village, take in the beautiful natural surroundings. After arriving, spend the night and have dinner at Mazumbai Rest House.

Day 3: Mazumbai Forest Exploration

With your guide, explore Mazumbai Forest for the entire day. Discover native trees, medicinal plants, bird species and forest protection as you stroll along routes in protected forests. The woodland has become known for its peaceful environment and abundant wildlife. Return to Mazumbai Rest House for your second overnight stay following a fruitful day of exploration.

Day 4: Mazumbai – Lushoto

After breakfast, depart Mazumbai and return to Lushoto by private transport. If time and energy allow, an optional walk from Mazumbai to Bumbuli can be arranged before continuing by vehicle to Lushoto. The tour ends upon arrival in Lushoto.
