About this experience

Description

The Lemosho Route is well known for its amazing equalization profile, varied habitats, and amazing vistas. Starting on the mountain's isolated western flank, the trail wanders through a verdant rainforest, over the stunning Shira Mountains, and connects with the Machame Route close to Lava Tower before making its way to the summit via the Southern Circuit.

This route has one of Kilimanjaro's greatest summit success rates, with a steady ascent and breathtaking panoramic vistas all along the way.

What You’ll Experience

A True Wilderness Beginning

Far from the more popular paths, on the isolated western slope of Mount Kilimanjaro, is where your experience starts. You will immediately sense the change from daily life to authentic African wildness as soon as you enter the verdant montane rainforest. A breathtaking initial impression of Africa's highest peak is created by towering trees covered in moss, the sounds of exotic birds, and the potential to see colobus monkeys.

You can start your adventure at a relaxed pace and establish a complete connection with nature at this peaceful and less crowded starting point.

Crossing the Spectacular Shira Plateau

The scenery unexpectedly shifts into wide grassland and volcanic mountains as you get above the woodland. One of the world's largest high-altitude plateaus, the stunning Shira Plateau, will be traversed.

The vistas here stretch out in all directions, including wide-open spaces, far-off ridgelines, and the majestic peak of Kibo in front of you. There is a humbling feeling of scale. Many climbers come to really appreciate the scope of the next task and beauty at this point.

Acclimatization at Lava Tower & Barranco Valley

The Lemosho Route's outstanding adaptation profile is one of its biggest benefits. Feel the promotion as you ascend to 4,600 meters to reach the amazing Lava Tower, surrounded by unspoiled volcanic landscapes. You descend into the breathtaking Barranco Valley after lunch at this striking rock formation. Your odds of successfully reaching the top are greatly increased by using the "climb high, sleep low" method. One of the most picturesque sites on Kilimanjaro is Barranco Camp, which is situated amid tall cliffs with expansive views of the plains far below.

The Thrill of the Barranco Wall

Many people claim that the most interesting and unforgettable aspect of the journey is climbing the Barranco Wall. Even while it could seem scary at first, with the help of your knowledgeable guides, it's a gratifying and safe scramble. A strong sense of accomplishment and stunning panoramic vistas await those who reach the summit. With breathtaking views of the mountains clinging to Kibo summit, the trail then winds down mountain slopes toward Karanga Valley.

Summit Night – The Ultimate Challenge

The start of summit night is just after midnight. You start your leisurely rise up Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters, under a sky full of bright stars. Although the ascent is physically taxing, you receive unwavering support from your guides. The horizon starts to light in shades of orange and gold as dawn draws near. Standing above the clouds, encircled by glaciers, and knowing that you have climbed Africa's highest mountain is an emotional and unique moment when you arrive at Uhuru Peak at day break. It is a life-altering accomplishment rather than merely a climb.

A Supportive and Professional Mountain Team

A knowledgeable and experienced mountain team, including qualified guides, talented cooks, and powerful porters, will help you on your trip and make sure you are comfortable and safe. Everything is carefully prepared, from daily health checks with oxygen meters to freshly made hot meals, so you can concentrate on your objective. Their support and knowledge are essential to your success in reaching the top.
