About this experience

This carefully arranged three-day private safari offers a dual experience of Tanzania’s natural beauty, combining the wild savannah of Mikumi National Park with the lush, cool heights of the Uluguru Mountains. Designed for two travelers, this package provides an intimate encounter with Africa’s famous wildlife and the hidden gems of Morogoro’s highland landscapes. The journey is a seamless blend of adventure and relaxation, starting with a modern train ride from the coast to the heart of the Morogoro region. From the golden plains of the Mkata Floodplain to the refreshing waters of Choma Waterfalls, every detail is managed to ensure a smooth, comfortable, and deeply rewarding Tanzanian holiday.

What You’ll Experience

The Wildlife of Mikumi

Mikumi National Park, often called the "Little Serengeti," is a haven for wildlife lovers. During your extensive game drives in a 4x4 safari jeep, you will explore vast horizons where elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and zebras roam freely. The open park layout makes it one of the best places to spot lions resting under the shade of acacia trees. With a professional guide by your side, you’ll gain deep insights into animal behavior and the park’s unique ecosystem during two intensive days of exploration.

The Uluguru Highlands and Choma Waterfalls

Beyond the savannah, your journey takes you into the heart of the Uluguru Mountains. This part of the trip offers a refreshing change of pace as you hike through tropical greenery to reach the hidden Choma Waterfalls. It is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, offering a chance to swim in natural pools and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Morogoro town from the mountain slopes. This hiking experience provides a perfect balance to the seated game drives of the previous days.

Cultural and Local Immersion

This safari goes beyond just animals; it connects you with the heart of Tanzania. You will visit a Maasai Boma for a cultural exchange, learning about the traditions, dances, and lifestyle of these iconic pastoralists. Additionally, you will experience a local city tour and market visit in Morogoro, giving you a taste of authentic Tanzanian food and the vibrant daily life of the local people before concluding your journey.

Day 1 – Departure from Dar es Salaam and Full Day Wildlife Exploration

Your adventure begins in the morning at the Dar es Salaam SGR station, where you will board the modern Standard Gauge Railway for a comfortable and scenic ride to Morogoro. Upon arrival at the Morogoro train station, you will be warmly met by your professional safari guide. From there, we head straight to Mikumi National Park, starting the day with a delicious breakfast within the park's serene environment. You will then embark on a full-day game drive in a private 4x4 jeep, traversing the park’s most active wildlife areas. A buffet lunch will be served at a designated spot within the park to maximize your time in nature. In the evening, you will settle in for dinner and an overnight stay at the comfortable Chambo Villas Hotel.

Day 2 – Second Game Drive and Transition to the Highlands

After an early breakfast at Chambo Villas, you will check out and head back into the park for another morning of intensive wildlife viewing. This is the perfect time to catch predators on the move before the afternoon heat settles in. Following the game drive and a fascinating cultural visit to a Maasai Boma for traditional exchange, we begin our journey back toward Morogoro town. To prepare for the next day’s mountain adventure, you will enjoy a relaxing evening and overnight stay at the Nguzo Campsite and Hotel, beautifully situated at the foot of the Uluguru Mountains.
