What You’ll Experience
Scenic Road Transfer to Lushoto
Your journey begins early in the morning with a drive from Dar es Salaam to Lushoto via Tanga. As you travel inland, the scenery gradually changes from coastal landscapes to rolling hills and green mountains. The journey offers a relaxing experience with beautiful countryside views along the way.
Irente Viewpoint Sunset Experience
Upon arrival and after some rest, guests will visit Irente Viewpoint for a sunset experience. This famous viewpoint offers spectacular panoramic views over the Maasai plains. As the sun sets, the sky transforms into warm golden and orange tones, creating a peaceful and unforgettable atmosphere perfect for photography and relaxation.
Skyline Adventure (Magamba Forest Reserve)
The Skyline, located within the Magamba Nature Forest Reserve, is one of the oldest cable logging systems in East Africa. This historic site dates back to the German colonial era and provides insight into early forestry practices. Surrounded by dense forest, the area offers fresh air, scenic hiking trails and a unique combination of nature and industrial history.
Jiwe La Mungu Cultural & Scenic Experience
Jiwe La Mungu, meaning “The Footprint of Man,” is a unique rock formation with a footprint-like marking that holds cultural significance among local communities. The site offers stunning views of the Maasai plains and an opportunity to learn about the traditions and lifestyles of the Shambaa and Pare people of the Usambara Mountains.
Gerwal Dam Relaxation Experience
Guests will visit Gerwal Dam, a peaceful and scenic location surrounded by greenery. Here, guests will enjoy lunch and relaxation time while taking in the calm natural environment. It is an ideal place for unwinding, photography, and enjoying the quiet beauty of Lushoto.
Kisasa Waterfalls Experience
On the final day, guests will visit Kisasa Waterfalls, a beautiful natural attraction hidden within lush vegetation. Visitors can enjoy the refreshing atmosphere, listen to the sound of cascading water, and swim in the natural pool. The area provides a perfect setting for relaxation and nature photography before the return journey.
What to expect
Itinerary
Day 1: Departure & Irente Sunset
The journey begins at 06:00 AM with departure from Dar es Salaam. After a scenic drive via Tanga, guests will arrive in Lushoto in the afternoon, followed by hotel check-in and lunch. After some rest, guests will head to Irente Viewpoint for a sunset experience. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Magamba Forest – Skyline – Jiwe La Mungu – Gerwal Dam
After breakfast, guests will begin a guided tour to the Skyline in Magamba Forest Reserve, one of the oldest cable logging systems in East Africa. Originally used during the German colonial era to transport logs, the site now offers scenic forest walks and beautiful viewpoints. The tour continues to Jiwe La Mungu (“The Footprint of Man”), a unique rock formation with a footprint-like mark where guests will enjoy panoramic views of the Maasai plains and learn about the culture of the Pare and Shambaa communities. Guests will then proceed to Gerwal Dam for lunch and relaxation in a peaceful natural setting. After lunch, the journey continues to Mkuzi for exploration before returning to Gerwal Dam for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Kisasa Waterfalls & Return
The day starts with breakfast followed by a visit to Kisasa Waterfalls. Guests will enjoy swimming, relaxation and photography at the site. After the experience the return journey to Dar es Salaam begins arriving in the evening.
