What to expect

Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Kilwa & Arrival

The tour starts when you leave from Dar es Salaam Starting point in the early morning. The six-hour trip along the coast is a beautiful experience for travelers. The party will make a halt at Kilwa Kivinje along the route for investigating historical sites, such as buildings from the German era, old graves, and other architectural relics. Kilwa's rich background is interestingly explained at this visit. The trip then proceeds to Kilwa town, where guests will check into their accommodation and recover after the day's adventure.

Day 2: Kilwa Town & Cultural Tour

The day starts with a guided tour of Kilwa town and its busy markets after breakfast, giving guests an opportunity to get a personal look at local life. Travelers can witness the centuries-old practice of salt collecting and learn about its significance to the community during the tour's visit to traditional salt farms. The town's historical and cultural sites are explored in the morning and early afternoon. Lunch in town will allow visitors to sample freshly prepared Swahili cuisine. Guests will travel briefly to Kilwa Kisiwani in the evening to take in the gorgeous surroundings and catch a sight of the historical ruins. Returning to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay marks the end of the day.

Day 3: Beach & Kisongo Mnara Island Tour

Following breakfast, visitors will embark on a full-day tour to Kisongo Mnara Island, where they may unwind on white sand beaches, swim in crystal-clear turquoise waters, and take in breathtaking views of the coast. Visitors can learn about the island's Swahili origin, maritime history, and importance in regional trade while taking a guided tour through mangroves, coastal lush vegetation, colorful indigenous birds, and minor historical remains. Additionally, visitors can take pictures, explore the island's calm areas, and take in the serene surroundings. The day continues in a return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay after beach relaxation, cultural insights, and beautiful discovery.

Day 4: Return Journey

After breakfast on the last day, visitors will leave the hotel and set out to return to their original location. There will be chances for refreshments and beautiful photo stops along the route. Travelers are left with enduring impressions of Kilwa's rich history, cultural experiences, and stunning beaches as the tour comes to an end upon arrival.

·         8–14 days before trip: 30% cancellation fee

·         2–7 days before trip: 50% cancellation fee

·         Within 48 hours / no-show: No refund
